Practice - 2:
Henrik Koch & Søren Jespersen sail in gusts to 40+ knots on the day of the practice race
..
Having awoken to gusts buffetting his camper, Uncle Al reconnoitered the conditions, Being hard pressed to hold himself and the camera steady in the gusts at the end of the dock, he decided Practice Races were overrated...
..
... and that he and Martha Friis could do more good photographing...
..
... and videoing the action.
..
Not so Henrik Koch and Søren Jespersen...
..
... who headed out out for a "little run" in W1967.
..
A little upwind work into...
..
... the far corner of the outer harbour sets them up for a ...
..
... spinnaker ...
..
... run ...
..
... past the admiring spectators.
..
So far ...
..
... so good!
..
Just after exiting the harbour, the lads doused the chute, took off on a wild planing reach which ended when a one of the frequent gusts of 40+ knots gave them a chance to swim in the Baltic Sea.
..
After righting and bailing the boat, they returned - exhilarated!
