34. Gutbucket comes into a buoys-to-port windward mark on the port tack layline. He reaches the two-length circle ahead of Tally-Ho coming on starboard. Gutbucket tacks at the mark and completes his tack with about one boatlength of open water between his transom and Tally-Ho's bow. But Gutbucket's crew forgets to bring the jib over and he stalls.

Tally-Ho is busy getting his spi pole set, and does not notice that Gutbucket has slowed right down. At the last second, Tally-Ho luffs up and tries avoid a collision. Too late! He runs into Gutbucket's virtually stationary transom and carves a nice chunk out of it. Both protest - Tally-Ho under rule 18.3, and Gutbucket under rule 12.
