Critter is on port tack, two lengths to leeward and ahead of Bubblemania
on the first beat in a 10 knot breeze as shown at left. Crafty
Critter tacks and there is a collision as Bubblemania
tries to bear away behind Crafty Critter.
CC sailed a straight close-hauled course after
completing his tack.
At a protest hearing, Crafty
Critter asks
Bubblemania if he could
have avoided Crafty Critter by tacking immediately
after Crafty Critter’s tack was complete.
