Pointless (starboard) is reaching along
a not very crowded line at a speed of about one knot in light winds. If she
holds her course, she will cross behind Expletive
Express who is starting on port. When the boats are three lengths
apart, the gun goes. Pointless heads up
to close-hauled and calls "Starboard" on Expletive
Express. The latter tacks about 3 seconds later but forces Pointless to luff up slightly to avoid a
collision. Pointless protests Expletive Express.
