Subject: lights board

Greetings, Al and Richard!

I read about Richard's search for lightboard ideas for trailer lights.  Well, I've attached two photos of what I came up with, using PVC pipe I already had lying around.  What you can't see is that I inserted a small section of garden hose inside the pipe, so that holes (in bottom) for slipping over the lower gudgeon (pintle?) (Al's note: pintle is the one of the pair that has a "pin" as part of it) actually go through the pipe and the hose.  This way, the hose has a better grip than the pipe alone would have.  The upper section is secured in the middle with an eye-bolt (or screw) aligning with upper gudgeon hole, with a golf-tee dropped through as a retaining pin.  Both ends (starboard and port) of the top crossbar have suction cups (local hardware store) bolted in place, and the cups adhere to the transom.  Finally, the lights and tag are bolted on, with holes drilled in PVC where needed.  The wiring is secured every few inches with a wrap of electrical tape, then the whole thing covered with plastic hose made for protecting wires.  I did go overboard and solder the connections.  Side lights are bolted to small sections of garden hose which is slipped over spinnaker hardware (padeyes) protruding from deck near chainplates (and held in place with golf-tees, of course; I don't actually play golf, but just find the wooden tees to come in handy: filling holes, retainer pins, etc.).

Cheers!
