the 2008 International Wayfarer Rally * Hermit Island, Maine
Friday 15 August - 1
...

Our final Rally day arrives warm and sunny. It'll be a "Do your own thing" day, though most are planning to ...
...
... head up up the east side of the New Meadows River to the Basin (diagonally across from Cundy Harbor)
which Alan and Anne had had a look at the first day.
...

Because I will be sailing aboard Solje with Gary and Tony (r) today ...
...

... SHADES will be left alone at her mooring with only ...
...

... Ton's ...
...

... NedWA pennant for company!!
...

Ton (l) and Ralph: Duelling paddles???
...

Ton is sailing with Tom Erickson aboard Possum today.
...

Jim Heffernan (l) and Bill Harkins
...

Putting the 2006 team back together ...
...

... Ralph (l) is sailing with André aujourd'hui.
...

Solje departs with Gary, Tony and Uncle Al aboard. Only one thing could have been more appropriate:
We might have been aboard Tony's boat which is named Trouble!!!
...

Gary Hirsch: Can this be the same man who was pretty nervous prior to his first W sail earlier this year at Crisfield???
I'm assuming that the white bridle addition is a shock cord that will keep the real bridle off the motor if tension comes off???
...

My beloved pal, Tony
...

Not much doing at the Marina where three W's look ready to be hauled out: (l to r) Tom Graefe, Kit, Ray
...

Monique captures the beginnings of a tow being given to Possum by MAG.
...

Soon André and Ralph are passing Solje.
...

Even under tow (up tide??), life is good: (l to r) Ton, Tom E.
...

A last little Friday sail for Jim and Linda and ???

Friday's group sail to The Basin and back. Gary, Tony and I have already decided that
we will try the challenge of the inside the islands passage - see green line - on the way up.

Off Flat Point: the ubiquitous Optis
...

Anne Kell gets a nice shot of Alan Asselstine off the approaches to Hermit Island.
...

In 2005, Chuck Jordan and I tried going up between ...
...

... West Point and Carrying Place Head. When we reached the island in the middle, the tide was still not quite all out but the water was less than six inches deep up ahead, so we gave up. This time, on a rising tide, Team Trouble was determined to make it through!!
