as recalled by Richard Watterson - 4

en route from Tangier to Smith Island

The winds were a little light but provided a nice broad reach up to Smith Island.

Jane is doing a nice job of keeping Blue Mist perfectly in trail

How fast can a 2-horse pull itself and four others?

A recent tool of the trade indicates that we are ...
...

... approaching civilization; on the way in André went to pick up Steve and Robert as well but they declined to be towed.

......

Steve and Robert have found some wind and arrive an hour after the rest of us.

...

It's moving time for someone on Smith Island.
...

They came within inches of the dock but managed to get it in cleanly.  Look at the water churning behind the tug; nobody in their right mind
would try to sail behind that rig, would they? (Al: hard to imagine anyone trying such a stunt!! click here > look at the last four pics)

...

Everyone got their boats secured and it was Dark and Stormy time. However, I don't think this is what we had in mind.
...

"It looks like it will miss us."
...

Party on!
...

Well, maybe it's time for the ...
...

... boom tent.
...

I wonder if the tent will leak...
The next day dawned with brilliant sunshine. Pauli, the nice proprietor of the marina and the adjoining B&B, prepared a wonderful breakfast of eggs, pancakes, strawberries and coffee.  No pictures were taken from here on in due to a wicked hangover on the part of the photographer.  Apparently a couple Wayfarer sailors lost their sea legs after the storm the night before and took an impromptu bath.  Who would have thought Dark and Stormies could induce such a thing.  It was a wild time partying with the other marina guests.  The trip across Tangier Sound back to Crisfield was uneventful.  It was yet another great Chesapeake cruise!
